Champagne Henri Giraud位於Aÿ特級村,酒莊歷史可以追溯到1625年,然而在1990年以前,僅有歐洲皇室、以及法國境內的重要顧客,才有機會一品Henri Giraud香檳的非凡風華。英國專業葡萄酒雜誌《Decanter》指出,Henri Giraud顯然在香檳世界中養成了自己獨特的風格與定位。

當其他香檳品牌選擇了炫目行銷或是華麗包裝時,Henri Giraud則選擇了一種極簡主義的風格。而當香檳區的種植者由於對於可持續發展農業等問題的立場而受到關注時,Henri Giraud早已經推出具有三「零」保證的Coteaux Champenois酒款,零農藥、零殺蟲劑、零除草劑。比起一般品牌,Henri Giraud更重視風土的表達與複雜的陳釀技術,而非著重在添糖劑量或混合。

第十二代傳人Claude Giraud曾經說過:「沒有偉大的森林,就沒有偉大的葡萄酒」,Henri Giraud的旗艦款Argonne香檳更是土地與人文共生的象徵之一,酒莊長期以來與法國國家林務局French National Forestry Office (ONF)合作,不僅深入了解這片森林,也致力確保森林永續發展。從2013年開始,酒莊與法國國家林務局共同發起“Forever and ever, Argonne”的計畫,每賣出一瓶Argonne香檳,就會在森林中種植一棵2年樹齡的新橡樹,至今已經種植了超過45,000顆新樹。

Claude Giraud & Sébastian Le Golvet

Giraud-Hémart家族第12代傳人Claude Giraud在從2000年中期以來就擔任酒窖負責人的女婿Sébastien Le Golvet的幫助之下,成功地將這個低調內斂的品牌推向國際市場,很快地便成為眾家爭搶,炙手可熱的珍品。

除了對葡萄園風土的詳細了解,Henri Giraud在過去30年對Argonne森林的不同橡木展開深入的實驗與研究,目的是為了要建立葡萄酒與木材之間的最佳組合。Sébastien解釋:「這片森林離我們很近,擁有高度含水的Gaize土壤,橡樹在這裡生長緩慢,形成紋理緊密的木材,傳統上用於造船,但這些木材也能會葡萄酒陳釀帶來難以置信的精確性。」

每一年,Sébastien會嚴格評估葡萄的成熟度,當時機恰當時,他就會訂購木材,並與釀酒團隊一起烘烤,每個橡木桶都會依據葡萄的風土量身打造,釀造強烈飽滿,富有活力與結構化香氣的香檳。
